iTunes Has Many Limitations

Unlike everything else that Apple produces, there is no plug-in architecture for iTunes. Many third parties offer the user ways to write plug-ins. iTunes is a limited application compared to music managers such as Lenogo, AVGO, and Rhapsody.

iTunes is Slow for Drag and Drop

One of the most convenient features for a media player device is that you can easily drag and drop your media selections to the device on a PC or a Mac. iTunes leaves you at a disadvantage if you have larger playlists to transfer. The drag and drop has an arcane feel to it and often requires that one-by-one drag and drop. Due to the memory strain on the computer, this becomes a tiresome process. iTunes is simply slow. When you are dealing with large libraries in the 50GB plus range, you could be waiting a long time as you drag and drop. You may wait lengthier periods of time for batch transfers, which commonly result in errors.

In conclusion, this is just an overview of some of the most frustrating points about iTunes. Not to defame Microsoft, but even Windows Media Player is more user-friendly. Mac users can look into Lenogo and AVGO. PC users can use Cucusoft or Rhapsody among many other alternatives. Rhapsody is even Mac-compatible now. Rhapsody is excellent for simple music management and does support iPod devices, though some restrictions apply. There is no need to eliminate iTunes, but iTunes users may want to consider alternatives if it is too frustrating for their needs.
